Montello-Wautoma Electric Reliability Project

PROJECT STATUS: Completed and in service

American Transmission Co. has plans to rebuild a 20-mile, 69,000-volt transmission line from the Montello Substation in Montello to the Wautoma Substation in Wautoma, Wis.

The project will involve stringing new wires and replacing aging wood transmission poles with new steel poles.

Rebuilding the line will help ensure electric reliability in the area by relieving potential transmission system constraints.

This approximately $51 million project received regulatory approval along with a proposal to rebuild a 25-mile, 69,000-volt transmission line from Portage to Prairie du Sac, Wis.
