Crews continuing to use helicopters for Badger Coulee Project construction between Juneau and Jackson counties

MADISON, Wis. – Construction crews are continuing work on the Badger Coulee Project along the Interstate and between Black River Falls and Blair.

Ground and aerial crews will continue to work on the project across and along the Interstate and in rural areas between Black River Falls and Blair. The helicopter work may involve crews suspended from ropes or working from the helicopter rail. There may be intermittent, limited traffic stops to ensure helicopters can cross roads during construction.

Ground crews will be installing structures, foundations and performing other work along the Interstate and in the right-of-way between Black River Falls and Blair.

Residents along the route in this area can also expect to see a large helicopter delivering pole components and construction materials, flying approximately 200 feet above the ground and setting structures at foundation locations. Work will be conducted during daylight hours. Flight schedules will vary and are subject to change based on weather.

“We’d like to thank the public for continued cooperation in staying away from construction areas and remind them to drive safely this winter,” said ATC Project Manager Jake Valentine.

Construction segment maps are available here.

Note to media: Work may be postponed with little or no notice. Stopping, viewing and photographing from the Interstate and overpasses is prohibited. This will be strictly enforced by law enforcement personnel. All individuals must stay clear of the construction right-of-way and out of the helicopter sterile zones.
