NORTH LAKE SUBSTATION - Michigan's Upper Peninsula

Project overview

ATC expects to complete construction in May 2009 for a new substation called North Lake to replace an existing Cedar Substation, which needs to be retired because of aging and obsolete facilities. The transmission lines currently entering and existing the Cedar Substation will be transferred to the new North Lake Substation when it's completed. This new substation is located approximately 5 miles west of the Cedar Substation, and will have 138-kilovolt and 69-kilovolt transmission facilities.

This substation is a crucial part of ATC's upgrades to the transmission system in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
