LAURIUM REBUILD

Project overview

ATC is rebuilding 13.8 miles of 69-kilovolt existing transmission line beginning near the Atlantic Mine Substation in Adams Township and terminating near the Osceola Substation in Calumet Township, Houghton County, Michigan. This is known as the Laurium Rebuild project.

Construction is currently underway, consisting of replacing the existing facilities with new steel poles and new wires along and within the existing transmission right-of-way corridor. We are also planning to upgrade the substations in this area. All of the upgrades are necessary to improve the conditions of the existing line and to increase reliability of the electric utility system that serves this area.

We hope to have the work complete and the lines in service by May 2008.
