Project overview

American Transmission Co. completed work on the existing transmission line that runs alongside US Highway 41 between the Sunset Point Substation, located in the town of Oshkosh, and the Ellinwood Substation, located in the City of Oshkosh.

The work involved added a second circuit (set of wires) to the existing 3.8 miles making the existing line a double circuit line. To accommodate the second circuit, it was necessary to replace six structures with steel poles on concrete foundations, as well as adding six new steel poles. The remaining structures were fitted with new "arms" to carry both the existing circuit and the new circuit. Work was also done at both substations.
